Recognizing that direct services only provide short-term solutions to hunger and poverty, Metro CareRing actively reaches out to educate and mobilize state legislators and the community to effect needed changes in public policy. Staff, volunteers and clients engage in many forms of advocacy to promote social change by participating in speaking engagements and rallies, signing petitions, writing letters, testifying at the State capital and hosting volunteer focus groups.
Metro CareRing also focuses on advocacy and education through partnerships, collaborations and coalitions. As a result, more voices carry the message of affordable housing, criminal justice, hunger, health care and welfare reform to the Colorado State Legislature where change can start.

Hunger For Justice: Hunger for Justice: Interfaith Voices Against Poverty seeks to bring together faith communities who have a unique voice in the struggle for justice in today’s world. The faith community can play a significant role in making systemic changes to the lives of those without a voice in the political arena. Hunger for Justice refers not just to food, but the hunger people of faith have towards seeing justice in this world, whatever form that may take. The emphasis within Hunger for Justice relates to affordable housing, criminal justice, healthcare, hunger and poverty. www.hungerforjustice.org

Colorado Anti-Hunger Network: CAN is a group of private, public and non-profit agencies coming together to learn about available food resources, share information, improve availability, delivery services and resources benefiting Coloradans who are experiencing hunger and food insecurity. www.coloradoantihungernetwork.org

Housing Justice: Currently, one in every five Coloradans struggles to afford food, clothing, medical treatment and transportation due to the high cost of housing. Housing Justice! believes everyone needs a place to live and that this lack of affordable housing exists due, in large part, to a lack of awareness and understanding. Addressing this need will also require significant financial resources. Their goal is to teach people to think, talk and act differently about those who struggle to find or to keep affordable housing. www.housingjustice.org

Colorado Coalition for the Homeless: The Colorado Coalition for the Homeless (CCH) mission is to work collaboratively toward the prevention of homelessness and the creation of lasting solutions for homeless and at-risk families, children, and individuals throughout Colorado. CCH advocates for and provides a continuum of housing and a variety of services to improve the health, well-being and stability of those it serves. www.coloradocoalition.org
