Advocacy
Recognizing that direct services only provide short-term solutions to hunger and poverty, Metro CareRing actively reaches out to educate and mobilize state legislators and the community to effect needed changes in public policy. Staff, volunteers and clients engage in many forms of advocacy to promote social change by participating in speaking engagements and rallies, signing petitions, writing letters, testifying at the State capitol and hosting volunteer focus groups.
Metro CareRing also focuses on advocacy and education through partnerships, collaborations and coalitions. As a result, more voices carry the message of affordable housing, criminal justice, hunger, health care and welfare reform to the Colorado State Legislature where change can start.
