Meeting Basic Human Needs

  • This year, Metro CareRing will distribute a four to six day supply of food that is nutritionally balanced and made to order based on family size and food preferences.

  • Over 4,000 pounds of food and toiletries are needed each day to serve 350-400 individuals.
  • Each year, Metro CareRing distributes over 1.8 million dollars worth of food.

  • Metro CareRing receives food from many different faith communities, businesses, schools and individuals.  Three of our largest partnerships are with Food Bank of the Rockies, Safeway and Elephant Talk: a grocery rescue organization.

Without having to rely on any public or private assistance, a family of four living in Denver needs $4,250 a month, or $51,000 a year, to meet their basic needs. For many families, deciding between paying the rent and feeding the family is a decision made more often than it should have to be. With the increasing costs of living in the community, 73,784 households in Denver county are living in poverty and struggle to meet their basic food needs.
